Faster Results for Trauma and PTSD!
Most approaches to trauma therapy ask you to revisit painful memories in detail, week after week. Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) works differently.
ART uses guided eye movements and imagery to help your brain reprocess what happened without you having to discuss it and relive it. You stay in control throughout. It has been proven to be more effective than EMDR. Many clients notice relief from their symptoms within 1 to 4 sessions.Â
Mandy Kushner is one of the few ART-trained therapists in the Pittsburgh area. If you’ve struggled with trauma or PTSD and previous therapy hasn’t moved the needle, ART may be why.
Find the Right Therapist for You!
The right therapist makes a real difference. Our team brings together four counselors with different styles, specialties, and backgrounds, so there’s always someone right for what you’re facing.

We Work With a Wide Range of Needs!
MK Counseling serves children, teens, and adults across Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania dealing with a wide range of mental health concerns.
Anxiety and Panic
Anxiety looks different for everyone. For some it’s constant worry that won’t switch off. For others it’s panic attacks, racing thoughts, or a tension that follows them into every room. Our counselors help you understand what’s driving it and build real tools to manage it, not just cope with it.
Depression and Low Mood
Depression isn’t always obvious. Sometimes it shows up as exhaustion, disconnection, or a flatness you can’t explain. If you’ve lost interest in things that used to matter, or you’re just going through the motions, our Pittsburgh counselors can help you find your way back.
Trauma and PTSD
Trauma doesn’t have to define you. Whether it happened recently or years ago, unprocessed trauma affects how you think, feel, and move through the world. Mandy Kushner specializes in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a research-backed approach that helps clients process trauma and find symptom relief in 1 to 4 sessions without having to relive it in detail.
OCD and Intrusive Thoughts
OCD is more than checking locks or washing hands. It’s a cycle of intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that can take over your day. Our counselors use evidence-based approaches, including ERP, to help you break that cycle and reclaim your time and attention.
Bipolar Disorder
Living with bipolar disorder means managing significant mood shifts, highs that feel uncontrollable, and lows that feel endless. With the right therapist, you can learn to recognize your patterns, stabilize your mood, and build a life that works for you, not against you.
Self-Esteem and Confidence
Low self-esteem shows up in a lot of ways: people-pleasing, perfectionism, negative self-talk, or shrinking yourself to keep others comfortable. Therapy helps you identify where those patterns started and start building a healthier relationship with yourself.
Life Transitions and Major Change
Divorce, job loss, a new baby, moving, retirement. Even positive change can feel destabilizing. If you’re struggling to find your footing after a major life shift, our counselors help you process what’s changed and figure out who you are on the other side of it.
Grief and Loss
Grief doesn’t follow a timeline, and it doesn’t always look like sadness. It can show up as anger, numbness, guilt, or an inability to move forward. Our counselors provide a space to grieve without judgment and help you carry the loss without being consumed by it.
ADHD and Neurodiversity
An ADHD diagnosis, whether recent or long-standing, can change how you see yourself. Our neurodiversity-affirming counselors work with your brain, not against it. You’ll build practical strategies for focus, organization, and self-regulation that actually fit how you think.
Children and Teen Mental Health
Kids and teens carry more than we sometimes realize. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, mood changes, behavioral issues, or school stress, early support makes a real difference. Our counselors who work with younger clients bring patience, warmth, and age-appropriate approaches that put children at ease.
Perinatal and Postpartum Mental Health
Pregnancy and new parenthood bring enormous change and sometimes anxiety, depression, or overwhelm that nobody talks about. Our perinatal mental health counselor provides non-judgmental support for women navigating the emotional side of this transition at every stage.
Couples and Relationship Challenges
Relationships take work, and sometimes they hit a wall. Whether you’re dealing with communication breakdown, conflict, loss of connection, or something more serious, couples counseling gives you a structured space to work through it together with a trained therapist.
People start to HEAL the moment they feel HEARD.
